Staying in Cancun? 4 Tourist Sites, Parks and Archaeological Sites:

Updated: May 11, 2023

1) Chichen Itza is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Mexico, and for good reason. The largest archeological site in Yucatán is Chichen-Itza, a UNESCO World Heritage Site of immense cultural importance. Chichen Itza is perhaps the largest, most famous and most accessible Mayan site, about 125 kilometers west of Cancun and Cozumel. This ancient Mayan ruin, a major tourist stop on Mexico's Yucatan Peninsula, is a rugged place of towering pyramids, massive temples, jaw-dropping sculpted columns, and life-and-death sports fields.

2) MUSA Museo Subacuático de Arte: in 2009 a monumental contemporary art museum was formed in the waters surrounding Cancun, Isla Mujeres and Punta Nizuc (very close to our department). MUSA consists of more than 500 monumental life-size permanent sculptures and is one of the world's largest and most ambitious artificial underwater art attractions. For more information see www.musamexico.org

3) Tulum: Enjoy the beauty of the Mayan ruins with the Caribbean Caribbean ocean at the same time.

4) Xcaret: We invite you to a journey through Mexico, a charming journey through traditions and nature in the eco-archaeological park of Xcaret. Come and enjoy an unforgettable experience that includes entertainment, exquisite food and the joy of a country that welcomes you with open arms! Delve into the trails of Xcaret to discover how the Mayan jungle and the culture of Mexico combine in more than 50 exciting attractions. Located on the coast near Cancun in the Riviera Maya, Xcaret has attractions for everyone. Enjoy the traditional Fiesta Charra and the Mayan ball game, or if you are a nature lover, visit Jaguar Island and our colorful Butterfly Pavilion. You can also enjoy the Caribbean Sea and go snorkeling.
